dis|arm «dihs AHRM», transitive verb.
1. to take weapons away from: »

The police captured the robbers and disarmed them.

2. to deprive of munitions of war or means of defense, often by tearing down or dismantling.
3. Figurative. to remove anger, dislike, or suspicion from; make friendly; calm the anger of: »

The little boy's smile could always disarm those who were about to scold or punish him.

4. to make harmless: »

The soldiers disarmed the bomb by removing its fangs.
